Depression Suicide Prevention
In 2018 Mataura Licensing Trust partnered with Keith Lightfoot from Hardwick Enterprises to deliver a series of free presentations to assist the Well-Being of the MLT community.
Public talks were held at Heartland Hotel Croydon in Gore and at the Forest Lodge in Tapanui. Further talks are planned for 2019. Sample feedback from the presentations: “We both came and after the discussion we both decided we did not want to become just another statistic on antidepressants and living a life of chaos.” “Just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for the invitation to come along to your presentation last night. Although the topic itself was a hard-hitting one, I found so many inspirations throughout the talk to take home with me." "First of all: thank you for that fantastic, inspiring evening - that was absolutely superb! I was surprised, how many young people were there - it's amazing!" "You did an awesome presentation last night and wow did u touch people's lives. Kept the night very interesting." Where is the next Well-Being talk being held?
If you would like to be notified when the next Public Talk is taking place, or you would like to request a presentation for your organisation, please send your name and email via the Contact Page. |
ZERO Suicides: New Zealand
New Zealand has one of the highest suicide rates in the world, often triggered by Depression and Anxiety, and despite the current best efforts, the numbers are continuing to climb. The Government is focused on Well-Being and has a stated objective of ZERO Suicides in this country. After seven years of research, testing and trialling, Keith and his team implemented their unique methodology in a town that was experiencing 1-2 suicides every month. The new strategy was released in March 2018 ... there have been ZERO Suicides since March 2018. This methodology has been formally presented in Wellington to the Deputy Director-General, Mental Health and Addiction, at the Ministry of Health. The Well-Being Depression ZERO Suicide White Paper provides more details about the presentation, the initiative and the successful outcomes to date.
